Hallswood animal sanctuary was founded in 1996 by Keith Hall and his first wife.
Like most rescues, Hallswood was founded out of a need rather than a plan; Both Keith and Anne loved animals and could not watch an animal in need of help suffer. Shelters and cages were built to accommodate the animals and birds and over time Hallswood cared for many hundreds of animals and birds. Keith Hall continued to run the sanctuary after Anne passed away and later re-married. Today the sanctuary is owned and run by Lyz Hall, Keith's second wife together with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
Over the years the sanctuary has continued to grow in the same way, expanding and adding as the need arises.
With the help of an amazing team of volunteers and supporters we have managed to rebuild better and stronger buildings, adding an animal hospital, specialist hog-hospital, a brand new drive, a fish pond for rescued goldfish, and much more. (More about projects here)
Hallswoods mission is to rescue, support, and advocate for wildlife, and at times domestic animals. Through rehabilitation, education, and community outreach Hallswood works to better the lives of animals across Norfolk. . And, where an animal cannot be released or rehomed but can live a happy and pain-free life, provide sanctuary and a forever home for that creature.
Hallswood is not just about animals however. One supporter recently described Hallswood as "So much more than an animal sanctuary!" And that is all down to the volunteers and students that we welcome on site to help care for the animals. If you would like to volunteer please do get in touch on email@example.com.
